Growing chicks need food that contains between 18 and 20 percent Digestible Crude Protein (DCP). In order to manufacture a 70kg bag of layered chick mash, use the following formulation:

Making a growers mash bag weighing 70 kg (4–8 weeks)
Feed for growers (pullets or young layers) should have a protein level of between 16 and 18%. Such a diet accelerates the growth of the young layers in preparation for egg production:

Digestible Crude Protein (DCP) level for layer feed should be between 16 and 18%.
Laying hens that are not given enough calcium will use the calcium stored in their own born tissue to build eggshells, thus the feed must contain calcium (lime) for the development of eggshells.
At 18 weeks, layer feed should be started.
