Formulating a 70 kg bag of broiler feed
At various phases of their growth, broilers have variable feed needs in terms of energy, proteins, and minerals. For best output, it is crucial that farmers modify feed diets to these needs.
Young broilers need a lot of protein for the growth of their muscles, feathers, etc. As broilers mature, their need for protein decreases while their need for energy to store fat increases.
As a result, they require starting rations with higher protein contents than grower and finisher rations.
Feed for broilers should have a DCP content of between 22 and 24 percent. The farmer can prepare the ideal feed at each stage of growth by referring to the following recommendations:
Broiler starter feed (1-4 weeks)
40kg of whole maize
12kg of fishmeal (or omena)
14kg of soya bean meal
4kg of lime
70g of premix
Amino acids
35g of lysine
35g of Threonine

Preparing broiler Finisher feed (70kg)
10kg of whole maize
16.7kg of maize germ
13.3kg of wheat pollard
10 kg wheat bran
6 kg of cotton seed cake
4.7kg of sunflower cake
3kg of fishmeal 2kg of lime
3.4kg of soya meal
40g of bone meal
10g of grower PMX
5g of salt
5g of coccidiostat
5g of Zincbacitrach

NOTE: It is recommended for farmers with more than 500 chickens to prepare a ton of feed all at once (one ton contains 14 bags of feed).
Therefore, all a farmer needs to do to make 1 tonne of feed is multiply each of the components by 14. Make sure that all of the feed you produce will remain fresh and safe for hens for no more than one month. Any feed used for more than a month may lose quality and have an impact on your chickens.
